UDA Primaries: Bomet Woman Rep Joyce Korir Goes Wild, Closely Engages In Fist Fight With Aspirants(Video)

Date:

DP William Ruto-led United Democratic Alliance(UDA) is conducting its party primaries in 36 counties across the country.

The exercise will see the 8 million registered members nominating those who will be on the ballot box in various elective positions come August 9.

The exercise has however been marred by violence and rigging allegations in different counties including in Bomet.

According to a video that has surfaced on social media, the Bomet woman rep Joyce Korir is seen shedding tears at Tenwek highschool polling station. The lawmaker complained of a plot to rig against her.

In the 2 minutes long video, Korir is taken away from the polling center but she gets involved in an altercation outside and she almost engages in a fist fight with senatorial aspirant Hillary Segei.

She is however taken to a waiting car as journalists and other people are barred from crowding the car.

Korir is seeking to succeed Bomet Central Member of Parliament Ronald Tonui who will not be participating in the polls. She is competing with 5 aspirants for the UDA ticket.

Meanwhile, the Bomet County Women Rep position has attracted 20 aspirants with most of them seeking a UDA ticket.

In Embu, a day before the party primaries, the nomination materials were burnt by a group of rowdy youths who ambushed a lorry that was transporting the materials over plans to rig in the nominations.

The incident was condemned by UDA’s National Elections Board (NEB) Chair Anthony Mwaura. He said that investigations into the matter are ongoing and those who will be found guilty of planning or participating in the chaotic incident will be disqualified from competing in the August polls.
