Two people have been killed and their bodies burnt beyond recognition for allegedly stealing from a funeral in Mombasa.
The two were suspected to be part of 9 member gang that stormed the funeral, while armed with pangas and other crude weapons.
The gang is said to have attacked and assaulted the mourners. They also stole a laptop, musical instruments, funeral cash among other valuables.
At the same time, they vandalized three vehicles.
Following the incident, an angry crowd tracked the suspects and caught up with two, whom they burnt.
“The incident was reported and booked as malicious damages. Police officers visited the scenes and established that two bodies were burnt beyond recognition,” the police report read.
Bodies of the deceased have since been transferred to the Coast general hospital awaiting autopsy.
