TikToK has reportedly banned a popular “Milk crate Challenge” game from its platform with concerns that those participating in it risk injuring themselves.
The milk crate challenge has been ongoing with various people making the creates into pyramids then trying to walk over the unstable structure with curious onlookers cheering.
As a result, they have been sharing the video clips in their TikTok social media handles for fans to comment and “enjoy”.
A spokesperson from the company told TechCrunch in an email that “TikTok prohibits content that promotes or glorifies dangerous acts, and we remove videos and redirect searches to our Community Guidelines to discourage such content.We encourage everyone to exercise caution in their behavior whether online or off.”
In most videos depicting the trend, TikTok users are seen tumbling to the ground as they try to climb up one side of the makeshift pyramid and down the other. The ban comes after several healthcare workers took to social media to voice their concerns about the trend and the danger it poses to those participating in it.
Besides, TikTok has gone ahead to delete search results for the hashtag milk crate challenge and explained that the act was promoting and publicizing a dangerous activity.
According to CNN, a search for the hashtag Friday morning brings up a “No results found” screen on TikTok. “This phrase may be associated with behavior or content that violates our guidelines,” the results said
Too dangerous is the game that the crates always topple, and the person walking on them goes down with thud.
In the meantime, How such a dangerous game became popular with people not relaizing the danger that accompanies it is still an issue that has left the world wondering.
