The question of Mt. Kenya Kingpin is gaining momentum as more of leaders from the region continue to front themselves for the position.
Just days ago, former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga declared that he is the kingpin of the region, which he said that he is driven by the desire to solve the region’s problems.
His declaration came after DP Rigathi Gachagua said that he is not interested in the position although Kenyans are convinced that he is beefing with Public Service CS Moses Kuria over the vital position, thanks to their frequent public clash.
“I do not have time for that kingpin ship nonsense, I don’t have that time because I am very bus. This kingpin position, where is the office located, how much is the salary? If there are people who want that office, I’m not part of it because I am the deputy president. My office is located in Harambee House and Karen. There is a salary and a job to do,” Gachagua said while in Kiambu County.
Former Murang’a governor mwangi Wa iria has now joined in the discussion and claimed that he is the most suitable person to become kingpin of Mt. Kenya region.
According to him, he is fit for the position because he is the only one who expressed interest in the presidential race during the last general elections as the rest of the leaders coiled their tails.
“There is no Mt Kenya region leader who contested and garnered more votes than the other, the only person who attempted is Wa Iria and so I am the one who is supposed to be the kingpin. I took my papers. No one becomes a kingpin without presenting himself as a candidate, they all feared,” he said.
The former governor also said that he will be contesting in the next general elections for presidency, despite failing in the first attempt.
“I will vie for the presidency, theywill choose me to defend them… if they give me four million votes I will be their kingpin of four million,” he noted.
