Detectives have reported that the death of Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif had everything to do with a lost car whose details still remain mysterious.
It is emerging that one Douglas Wainaina reported to the Pangani Police station that his vehicle KDJ 700F had been stolen in Nairobi’s Ngara area.
The report claimed that the car had been driven away from the parking lot of an electrical shop with his son inside it.
“When he returned from the shop, he found the vehicle and son missing. Wainaina reported the matter to the Pangani Police Station, and using the mobile technology tracker the officers located the son at Olosuritia ACK Church in Kiserian town, Kajiado County.” Reported the Standard.
The statement continued: “After a short while he was located at Kiserian dam estate and later at Olepolos Hills. The detectives alerted the officer in charge of GSU Magadi Training School who dispatched officers at a roadblock along the Kiserian-Magadi road.”
The detectives immediately circulated the car’s registration details although it is still not clear whether they specified the model and the colour of the car.
However, many questions have been raised on the shooting with many accusing the GSU officers of negligence for failing to notice that the Pakistani Nationals’ car was not the one that was reportedly missing.
Besides, the police had the option of pursuing the car or alerting the next roadblock since the car clearly had a different number plate from the one that was missing. The two brothers were travelling in a white Toyota Landcruiser V8 car with registration number KDG 200M while the missing vehicle was KDJ 700F.
The murder took place a few distance from the GSU Magadi Training School. Apparently, the deceased was a familiar face in the Magadi region according to the locals because he on several occasions visited the Amodump and Kwenia shooting range.
Also, the distance between the shooting range and where Arshad Sharif was killed were 30 Km apart. At the same time, the Standard revealed that their attempt to get information from Amodump and Kwenia were futile because the management was not willing to give any clue on the late’s last visit.
