President William Samoei Ruto on Saturday paid a courtesy call to the neighboring Uganda two months after the 9th of August general elections.
The visit to Uganda came just a few days after Yoweri’s son Muhoozi Museveni caused online storm where he threatened to take over Nairobi city in two weeks time using the military.
So serious was the issue that Yoweri Museveni was forced to send an apology after the Ugandan foreign affairs stated that they would not respond to social media propaganda.
Thus, insiders around William Ruto believe that he paid a courtesy call to Museveni so that the two can cement the relationship between the two nations following the Muhoozi tweets.
The insiders added that the tweets had gone out of hand given that they were made by Museveni’s own son. As a result, it is believed that the Ugandan head of state wanted to re-create the relationship and assure Ruto that all was well despite his son’s careless sentiments.
Besides, sources revealed that Museveni would make Ruto and his son Muhoozi to have a private meeting just to guarantee the Kenyan head of state that nothing was wrong and that the tweets were just the usual social media excitements.
Secondly, there are those who opined that Ruto is working on his foreign policy not only to sell himself as Ruto but also to sell himself as the president of Kenya. This is because Uganda and Kenya have never had a clear foreign policy, something which Ruto is keen on achieving. Also, its believed that Museveni is concerned about his personal interest with regards to the Naivasha port.
Museveni is said to have invested in Naivasha and that the move by president Ruto to revert it back to Mombasa will work to their disadvantage due to the increased distance.
