An accident involving a bus, lorry and a truck at Subuiga in Meru County has left 11 people dead and several others fighting for their lives.
The bus plying along the Nanyuki – Meru route lost control while descending Subuiga Hills at around 7PM on Saturday.
The bus then rammed on the rear of a PSV Menany Sacco Matatu pushing it to the fence. It then proceeded and hit a Mover truck.
Seven people boarding the Matatu and 4 others in the bus are reported to have lost lives instantly. Several others were rushed to St.Theresa Hospital in critical conditions.
The 11 bodies of the deceased were taken to Meru Referral Hospital’s Morgue for Autopsy and Identification.
Residents have called on the government to move fast and do something about the area.
“We have witnessed several people lose their lives here (Subuiga). The government has well educated engineers whom I believe cannot lack a solution. Let the County and National government liaise and deploy them here,” spoke one of the residents.
