Omar Lali, the boyfriend to deceased Keroche heiress, Tecra Muigai, has issued a demand to his late girlfriend’s family, asking to be allowed to attend her burial ceremony.
Through family spokesperson Mohamed Lali, Omar and his family want to be allowed to say goodbye to Tecra, who they held in high regard.
In a report by The Standard on Saturday, May 16, Mohamed stated that they treated Tecra like one of their own and she was so endeared to them as she lived with Omar in Lamu.
However, they argued that they would only avail themselves for burial if invited by Tecra’s family.
Reports detail that Tecra’s family has planned a private burial in accordance with Covid-19 regulations on social gatherings.
Only close family members will be allowed to mourn Tecra as the government directed that a maximum of 15 people will be allowed at funerals.
On Friday, May 15, reports surfaced that the Keroche Breweries CEO Tabitha Karanja, Tecra’s mother, and her family differed with Omar Lali on a conclusive post-mortem report.
Chief Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor led the team conducting the autopsy on Tuesday, May 12 at Nairobi’s Lee Funeral Home and stated that Tecra succumbed to injuries sustained on the left side of her head.
Tecra’s family argued that she was pushed, as Omar, who is still detained at Lamu Police Post, stood by his statement, arguing that she fell by herself on Tuesday, April 28.
“She wanted us to settle down. I helped her look for a house in Naivasha. But she is gone. Why would I kill her? Why won’t people accept God’s will? This girl was special. I will never find anyone like her again,” the 51-year-old stated on Wednesday, May 6.
