Robert Alai has unsuccessfully pleaded with Ringtone to settle their issue out of court. It turns out Starehe MP Charles Njagua alias Jaguar is the one pushing for the court process to continue.
Ringtone – real name Alex Apoko – sued Alai following July 23rd 2021 road rage. The two were involved in an altercation which turned physical.
Alai was arrested and detained at Kilimani police station on allegations of beating Ringtone with a wooden club.
Police said they were talking to the blogger to seek clarification on what led to the violence and road rage.
Officials said the two accused each other of obstruction in a scuffle that began on Oloitoktok Road and spread to Dennis Pritt and Likoni roads.
Alai was accused of hitting Ringtone’s car at a roundabout on Oloitoktok Road. Although the genesis of the drama remains unclear, several videos showed what is believed to be Alai’s car blocking the musician’s car.
At University Way, Ringtone was seen atop his Ranger Rover when Alai came out of his Subaru with a wooden club.
Ringtone was heard accusing Alai of taking the law into his own hands by hitting him on the head with the wooden club.
The case is still active in court even though Alai has been pushing for an out-of-court settlement in vain.
Speaking during an interview with YouTuber Mungai Eve, Alai revealed that Ringtone has no issue only that Starehe MP Jaguar is the one determined to see the case proceeds in court.
Alai revealed that Jaguar is trying to settle an old score with him by pushing Ringtone not to withdraw the case in court.
“I have even called him. Ringtone is my friend, by the way I have not known Ringtone today. I have known Ringtone for a very long time. And I think Ringtone is not himself, he is being driven by kina Jaguar. Ni Jaguar ndo anadrive Ringtone. This issues involves deeper issues, Jaguar and huyu mkora mwingine hapa ndo wana drive. Utaona tu wanafall in place. Jaguar has his own issues to resolve. He is the one who is pushing, Ringtone is his puppet. Ata meetings amekua nazo ni Jaguar ndo anapush,” said Robert Alai.
