Spy Queen Jane Mugo Resorts To Playing Cat And Mouse Game With Court

Date:

Jane Mugo was no show again during court proceeding where she is facing charges relating to threatening to kill two people – Patrick Mugasia Kefa and Deepa Shah.

The controversial private detective was first arraigned in court in 2019 after Kefa and Shah accused her of threatening to kill them.

In the first charge, police said the private investigator drew her pistol and threatened to kill Kefa on August 15, 2015.

She is said to have committed the second offence on February 4, 2019, at Kyuna Close in Spring Valley where she allegedly threatened to kill Shah.

Mugo is currently out on a cash bail of ksh200,000 and ksh100,000 on the first and second charges respectively.

Fast forward to December 2021, the private investigator through her defense team told a court that she can’t appear in court in person to answer to the charge because she is stuck at Eldoret Hospital.

Lawyer Mwangi Karanja told Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi that Mugo is not able to travel to Nairobi to attend the hearing of the case despite being discharged from the hospital.

According to the lawyer, the controversial private investigator was barred from leaving the hospital after undergoing knee surgery.

However, Mugo’s lawyer could not provide original documents to prove that his client had gone through the said procedure.

“My client was discharged from the Eldoret Hospital but she is still held at the facility. I was not able to obtain the original medical documents to prove she underwent a knee procedure before the attack,” Mugo’s lawyer Karanja told the court.

State counsel Alice Mathangani, however, disputed his claims and now wants the court to order investigations into the authenticity of the medical documents Karanja carried to court.

Mathangani’s request was granted by Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi who suspected the defense was not honest about their client whereabouts.

In early November, Mugo through her defense team told the court that she could not attend court hearings since she had undergone a knee procedure.

The case will be mentioned on 26th January 2022.
