Sonko Spills The Beans On Raila’s Assassination Attempt

Date:

Raila Odinga’s supporters clashed with police on November 17th 2017 when the ODM leader was returning back to the country.

National Super Alliance (Nasa) mobilised dozens of their supporters to head to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to welcome Raila who had been on a 10-day visit to the US.

A heavy contingent of anti-riot police officers were deployed at JKIA to prevent Raila’s supporters from receiving him.

Police were forced to fire tear gas to disperse supporters who were marching on Mombasa Road following Raila’s convoy into the CBD.

A Range Rover carrying the ODM leader was shot at, luckily the vehicle’s bulletproof windscreen stopped the bullet.

Police denied shooting at the vehicle, and even launched an investigation into the matter. Raila later clarified that he was not in the vehicle at the time it was hit by the object.

Fast forward to 2020, Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has fallen out with President Uhuru and he is now spilling ‘state secrets’.

Sonko, who was a staunch supporter of the President back in 2017, claims that the government planned to assassinate Raila back in 2017.

“Mavi ya mavi Jacaranda the order came from above watu walitumwa na na Kibicho kumwaga jacaranda ndio People’s President Raila Amolo Odinga asihutubie wananchi. Now the System wants to shift the blame to me while they know well they even tried to assassinate Raila when they instructed police officers to shoot him in his car at close range aiming his head at the junction of ngong road and uhuru Park luckily the white range rover KBR 786 S he was using on that material day was armoured,” wrote Mike Sonko on Instagram.

Sonko’s post caught the ire of Raila’s supporters who says he is only trying to antagonize Uhuru and Raila’s base after falling out with the President.
