Sonko Melts Raila’s Supporters Hearts With Latest Announcement

Date:

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko woed many ODM supporters after making a big announcement in Kisumu county

Speaking in Kisumu, Sonko came out to strongly lobby for more positions in the cabinet for ODM members something that Raila’s follower couldn’t help but concur with.

Governor Sonko has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to consider more Cabinet Secretary slots for Raila’s men.

Sonko said it is about time ODM leader Raila Odinga was accorded more recognition in the government through Cabinet appointments.

“We want to see a genuine handshake where ODM is recognized and given more positions in government,” he said in Seme, Kisumu county.

Sonko was speaking during a burial ceremony of footballer Kevin Oliech, a brother to veteran and former Harambee Stars striker Dennis Oleich who died in German last month.

Sonko had earlier called on the Lake region resident to rally behind the handshake which he said will determine the formation of the next government.

According to Sonko, the region stands to benefit more by bullying supporting President Uhuru and his brother Raila.

“I know many youths here in Kisumu have no jobs. We will ensure that the government that is coming, the handshake government, addresses this issue, ” he said.

Speaking on the alleged grand theft at Kemsa, the Nairobi governor asked DPP Noordin Haji not to spare anyone including the Cabinet secretaries mentioned in the scandal.

Sonko called on a comprehensive investigation on the matter and subsequent prosecution of senior government officials irrespective of their positions.

“Cabinet secretaries who misuse billions of shillings meant for Kenyans should be charged and kicked out of government,” said Sonko.

“It is unfortunate that we have people who can misuse public funds at a time when Kenyans are suffering.”

Sonko’s statement on the Kemsa scandal was supported by Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, who asked the DPP and DCI to quickly investigate the matter.

“This is a serious matter and we want justice to be done to the people of this country without further delay,” Babu said.
