Al-Shabaab carried out a deadly attack in Mogadishu, Somalia while the country was celebrating court ruling against Kenya on the maritime dispute.
International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Tuesday October 12th ruled in favor of Somalia by splitting the disputed maritime triangle between the two countries.
The ruling was not welcomed in Kenya as it went against the country’s wish to secure the whole maritime triangle for itself.
Somalia was in a celebratory mood following the the historical ruling by the International Court of Justice – but not for long.
Al-Shabaab took advantage of the Tuesday celebration to carry out a deadly attack in Somalia’s capital city Mogadishu.
The celebration was occasion by security lapse which was exploited by the terrorist group to inflict pain when Somalia was celebrating the ICJ ruling.
According to media reports from Somalia, a group of people were targeted by a suicide bomber while they were in a café playing a game.
It has been reported that at least five people died on the spot while others sustained injuries when Al-Shabaab suicide bomber detonated an explosive device.
“At least five people were killed, six others wounded in a suicide explosion targeted a group of people playing dominoes at a café shop near Fagah junction in Mogadishu,” Shabelle Media Network reported.

Among the people killed is a young man who had posted on social media celebrating the ICJ ruling on the maritime dispute.
“This young boy’s life was cut short by an explosion in Mogadishu’s Fagah junction just hours after posting “the water is ours” on his Facebook status. Tuursame & his friends were celebrating at a restaurant when a suicide bomber blew himself up killing him & several others,” Somalia Latest News reported.
