Police in Murang’a have launched a manhunt for a 21-year old mother who stabbed her two sons leading to the death of the younger one.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon at Kianjogo village in Kahuro.
The woman had visited her two children during the festive season, who were under their grandmother’s care.
“In the bizarre incident that left locals astounded, Nancy Munjiro (a 21-year-old single mother of two 4yr and 2-yr-old boys) turned the knife against her little angels at their grandmother’s house, spilling their intestines before attempting suicide,” DCI report reads.
According to the area assistant chief, Lucy Muthoni Kimani, the killer mother was yet to return to her place of work at Kiraini where she works as a house help.
Munjiro descended on her sons moments after her mother left the house in the morning.
“What the kids’ grandmother hoped would be a precious bonding moment between mother and sons as she stepped out of her house in the morning, turned to be the darkest day of her life,” DCI said.
On returning to home, she found her grandchildren soaked in blood and sprawled on the floor inside her house.
“Sadly, the two-year-old had already given up his spirit, but the older boy had a faint pulse. He was rushed to Muriranjas hospital before being referred to Murang’a County hospital in serious condition,” the report further read.
A rope hanging from the roof was also recovered from the scene of crime with the police concluding that the suspect might have attempted to take her life before running away.
“Police who visited the scene also found a rope hanging from the roof, suspecting that the perpetrator might have attempted suicide before opting for her heels,” DCI sated.
DCI anyone with information regarding the woman to volunteer to the police and wished the hospitalized boy a quick recovery.
