Suna East member of parliament Junet Mohamed has taken a swipe at deputy president William Ruto over his reckless remarks in the United States of America (USA).
William Ruto while giving a speech at Loyola University in the United States, expressed fears that the biggest threat to democracy in Kenya is the inability to make free choices at the ballot due to threats, intimidations, blackmail and rigging.
As a result, the deputy president cried to the American citizens to help him stop rigging attempts as the August 2022 general election looms.
However, these words have been interpreted by most Kenyans as not only dishonest but also silly by all standards because of the hypocrisy in them. Simply put, those words are working against him given how the majority of Kenyans have criticized them.
According to Suna East member of parliament Junet Mohamed, William Ruto has sensed defeat and is only preparing ground to reject the results come August. These leaders also wondered why a whole deputy president could go to the USA to malign the name of our beloved country with silly claims without backing them with concrete evidence.
They have argued that Ruto, being the deputy president, should use the locally available constitutional bodies to bring to book those planning to rig elections instead of yapping rumors to please Americans. In addition, Kenyans have urged the UDA party leader to go and record a statement with the DCI so that he shares what he knows and who wants to rig elections.
Besides, William Ruto was a beneficiary of the 2017 bangled general elections that was nullified by the Supreme court of Kenya. Hence, he should be advocating for the server to be opened while still in the US if he is really genuine about free and fair elections (both present and past elections).
To make matters worse, Ruto asked the United States to help him prevent electoral malpractices the same day he appointed his key ally Mr. Davis Chirchir as his chief of staff. Mr. Chirchir spearheaded election theft in 2017.
His appointment has sent panic across Kenya given his role in the 2017 general elections that was nullified by the David Maraga led supreme court.
In an internal Post Evaluation Report released by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), the commission stated that Jubilee Party accessed their result transmission servers.
The report revealed that Jubilee’s chief agent then, Mr. Davis Chirchir (Ruto’s chief of staff now) attempted to hack the IEBC server 24 times out of which he made 10 successful logins.
On their side, the National Super Alliance (NASA) claimed that Davis Chirchir hacked the IEBC servers and helped Jubilee rig the elections in favor of president Uhuru. Mr. Chirchir was a former IEBC official and a tech expert. He was in charge of Information Communication Technology at the IEBC.
During the 2017 presidential petition hearing, NASA lawyers led by Siaya Senator James Orengo and Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo stated before the court that IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati’s account was used to access the servers several times in a bid to manipulate the results.
Therefore, Ruto rewarding an election thief/hacker Mr. Davis Chirchir and still complains of rigging in the USA is the highest level of hypocrisy.
If he is genuine about free and fair election, he should first revoke the appointment of Davis Chirchir because he is just fooling the American citizens of election rigging while the chief election thief suspect/hacker is his chief of staff.
