Boda boda operators in Sega, Siaya county are now ‘playing hide and seek’ with police after they set chief’s house on fire over disco matanga ban.
There has been an unusual absence of the boda boda operators at their stage at Sega as they fear police reprisal.
Tension between riders and the law enforcing officers started when the former invaded a local chief’s homesteads, and touched the administrator’s houses.
When asked to explain what informed their barbaric action against the administrator, one of the riders intimated to us that the chief had stopped them from conducting ‘disco matanga’ during curfew times. (Disco matanga is a dance party where the party is organized at night, and always attracts rowdy youth – mostly with ulterior motives).
It should also be noted that other than violating Covid-19 regulations, these parties have been outlawed in the country – because they have been the breeding spots for all manner of illicit sexual orgies and barbarism.
Until the time of going to press, there has never been a single rider spotted around the stage – save for those that would be seen patrolling around to see whether there is a bait set by the law enforcers to catch them.
It is not yet clear whether the police are still on the lookout, but word going round tried to suggest that the police have changed tack, and are now clothed in civilian attire, likely to arrest the perpetrators of the vice should they be found waiting for customers at the stage.
The area chief, Mr. Juma, confided to us that both his two homes were torched to ashes during that midnight arson attack.
The way the arson was carried out is an indication that the perpetrators are people who are privy to the lifestyle of the administrator, knowing very well that the chief has got two wives – and each one’s home.
