Several people are feared dead after a Super Metro bus they were travelling in rammed into a lorry.
According to the Kenya Red Cross, multiple people were left with serious injuries following the accident which occurred at at Ahero Junction, Kisumu County on on Monday, January 29.
“Multiple injured individuals have been taken to Ahero Sub-county Hospital while critical cases are now being directed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital,” Kenya Red Cross stated.
“Kenya Red Cross is actively involved in providing Psychosocial Support and managing a Tracing Desk,” it added.
The bus was plying the Kampala- Nairobi route when it was involved in that accident. The photos of the crash showed that the lorry and the bus were badly damaged.
By the time of publishing this article, police had not revealed the cause of the accident. However, residents were seen trying to salvage the items from the bus.
The wreckage of the bus and lorry was also towed to the nearest police station and traffic allowed to resume normally.
