Driver Of Bus That Was Involved In Twin Bridge Accident Charged

Clement Kiarie, the driver of bus that was involved in an accident on January 7 at Twin Bridge, along Nakuru-Eldoret highway has been released on a Kshs1 million bond.

Kiarie was arraigned before Molo Principal Magistrate Daisy Mosse on Thursday, January 11, after his arrest and detention at Mau Summit police station on Wednesday.

He was charged with; “15 counts of causing death, 1 count of contravening the use of insurance, 1 charge of reckless driving and one other charge of for carrying 41 uninsured passengers.”

The accused denied the charges.

The magistrate further ordered the accused to be taken to hospital  for treatment.

 “The accused needs to be taken for treatment, I can see he is visibly injured,” the magistrate ruled.

It had earlier been reported that the driver fled the scene after the deadly accident.
