Date:

It has really been an interesting week ,history been made in the sports world .Here are top highlights this week:

Barcelona chief  Josep Maria Bartomeu has promised big changes following Barcelona’s Champions League humiliation by Bayern Munich – with Quique Setien believed to be on the brink of being sacked.

Head coach Setien looks destined for the chop after Barca were thrashed 8-2 by Bayern on Friday, with Xavi and Mauricio Pochettino among the names in the frame to replace him.

Setien was already under pressure going into the quarter-final, but the 61-year-old appears doomed following one of the club’s worst defeats in Europe – which president Bartomeu described as “a disaster”.ImageAfter the humiliating defeat, Bartomeu said “today is not the day” for detailing the changes – but promised that big decisions would be announced in the coming week following the end of a trophy-less season.”It’s been a disaster, and now it’s time to take some decisions,” said Bartomeu to Movistar, in quotes translated for Barcelona’s English language Twitter page.

Asked what decisions were going to be made, Bartomeu replied: “Today’s not a day to talk about that. Today’s a day for feeling bad for ourselves.

“I’m not going to say right now what the changes are because some of them we’ve already thought of before what’s happened in the Champions League.

Those decisions are thought to include replacing Setien, while sporting director Eric Abidal and CEO Oscar Grau are also said to face uncertain futures, according to Sources.ImageBayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer said he was saddened to see German rival and Barcelona counterpart Marc-Andre ter Stegen concede eight goals in Saturday’s UEFA Champions League quarter-final humiliation.

Bayern embarrassed La Liga giants Barca 8-2 in Lisbon, where Neuer’s team-mates became the first team in Champions League history to score eight goals in a knockout match.

Thomas Muller and Philippe Coutinho braces, and goals from Robert Lewandowski, Ivan Perisic, Serge Gnabry and Joshua Kimmich saw Barca concede eight goals in a game for the first time since 1946.

Neuer – Germany’s number one keeper – spared a thought for countryman ter Stegen post-match.Image“I’m a little sorry for Marc-Andre ter Stegen that he conceded so many goals,” said Neuer.

“It’s good for us, of course, but you wouldn’t wish that to any team-mate from the national team.”

On the match itself, Neuer said: “You could see that we didn’t let up a minute and that we always wanted to keep playing forward. Of course, Barca are also strong offensively.

“We know that goals can come. We tried to play on Barca goal until the very end. Accordingly, we were also successful.”

ImageBack in England, Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Willian as a free agent following the expiration of his contract at Chelsea.

The Brazilian forward has penned a three-year deal at the Emirates and has now spoken for the first time after the move.

Willian said: “[I like] the way they play, everything is amazing – the stadium, and I think that with Arteta, Arsenal have a great opportunity to fight again for titles in the Premier League and in Europe so I’m very happy because of that.”

ImageKia Joorabchian has spoken of the future of his client Philippe Coutinho, who has been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer.

The Brazilian’s agent said in an interview said: “After the Champions League is finished, then we will sit down.
