Sauti Sol Leaves Fans Worried After Announcing A Temporal Split

Date:

Kenyan boys band Sauti Sol have left their fans surprised after announcing that they are embarking on individual journeys in music.

Through a statement that was shared across the band’s social media platforms, they announced that they will not release any music as a group until May 2022.

Instead, the four band members will be doing solo music projects, a journey that has been dubbed ‘Alone Together’.

“It is a wonderful journey in which we are self-actualizing by showcasing our personal strengths and characters as the artists who came together to form Sauti sol,” the statement read.

The four members will each release an album by December 2021

“Alone Together is a child of the pandemic. The result of deep reflections that we experienced as individuals and as a group, leading us to craft the ultimate expansion of our musical and artistic legacies. Thus each of us shall enter into our alone phase with a single release by December 2021. This shall be followed by release of full projects whose dates shall be announced in due time,” the group further said.

Bien kicks off the new chapter with a solo titled ‘Bald Men Anthem’ featuring Jazz Maestro Aaron Rimbui.

“The African King of Bald Me, Bien Aime Shall kick us off with his first Solo Single, a collaborative track between him and Jazz Maestro Aaron Rimbui aptly titled Bald Men Anthem set to be released on Friday 8th October. This date will also mark the inception of Bien, Chimano, Savara and Polycarp’s individual journeys as entertainers,” the band revealed.

Polycarp aka Fancy fingers will release a single dubbed ‘Father Studies’, Chimano’s song will be called ‘Heavy is the Crown’ while Savara will drop ‘Savage Level’.

The announcement left fans worried and some questioning the motive behind the step.

“Cheeii I don’t like this. I hope you don’t end up splitting after this. You are the best we have in East Africa, I wish you all the best,” Agatha.O. Agoe responded to the statement.

Jay Havar wrote that, “You guys should never split Sauti Sol is a ministry in the music government.”

“So ni kama you guys are preparing us mentally that mnaeza breakup… Not now but eventually…but for now mnaexperiment muone venye kunaeza enda alafu afterwards mrelease a good bye album one last time. Ni Sawa tu,” Zelipher said in a tweet.

Sauti Sol was formed as early as 2005 before even attaining the band’s name. The band is known for great hits such as Etravaganza, Nishike, Sura yako among others.
