The political life of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance principal Moses Masika Wetangula is in a critical state following the decision of one businessman to sue him for stealing his dogs.
The Bungoma senator Moses Masika Wetangula was In August 2021 accused by a farmer of stealing his dogs.
The man by the name James Isokat claimed that he supplied Moses Wetangula with trained microchipped German shepherd dogs at his Karen residence on June 11, 2021 but the Bungoma senator has been giving him a wide berth whenever he demands payment.
As a result, the farmer said that Moses Wetangula could only be likened to a brave thief (mwivi wa mabavu) who stole his dogs from him without a second thought.
“Ameniibia mbwa zangu sababu tulielewana na hajanilipa (he has stolen my dogs because he has not kept his side of the bargain,” Isokat told K24 Digital.
According to a voice in possession of K24, Moses Wetangula had only paid 100,000 Kenya shillings despite being charged 348,000 for the dogs.
The poor farmer further stated that he has used all means humanly possible to compel the Bungoma senator to pay him but his efforts have been futile since the OKA principal has blatantly refused.
“On June 11 this year Bungoma Senator ordered well-trained dogs and we delivered at his Karen residence, we charged him Sh348,100 but he only paid Sh100,000, the remaining was to be collected the following morning but he hasn’t paid up-to-date. He has been taking me around with numerous threats from his security guards,” Isokat said.
K24 also reported that Isokat, who does his dog farming business in Nairobi, had since reported the matter to the Karen police station on 8/07/2021 and his case was booked in OB7A1N1N19/21.
Strangely, audio clips shared online at one point revealed Moses Wetangula threatening the farmer that he would not entertain his habit of camping at his home to demand for payment of his dogs.
Screenshots of his text messages to the Senator according to k24 showed how he has been desperately trying to get the attention of the Mheshimiwa in regards to the pending payment.
Isokat has also told K24 Digital that he had written to the National Assembly and the Senate about the matter in a bid to get his money.
He also threatened to file a case in court for him to be paid or being allowed to take back his dogs and sell them to a potential buyer.
“I want him to pay me and compensate for all the training I have done to his staff. I have tried all the means but he seems not ready to pay me,” Isokat said.
And true to his threats, the businessman has now officially sued Moses Wetangula after failing to clear his debt.
Through his lawyer Adhiambo Omondi, the businessman on February 15th 2022 issued the Bungoma senator with a demand letter. The letter was delivered to both his Karen home and his senate office.
“Having legally been mandated we, therefore, make the following demands; 1. A full, categorical acknowledgement in writing of the monies owed to our client, 2. A Kenya Shillings Three Hundred and Eighteen, One Hundred (KSHS. 318,100/-) cheque drawn to the undersigned law firms name and account for the settlement of the matter,” the demand letter read in part.
“TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that, we are under strict instructions from our client to promptly act and move to the Civil Court on his behalf to seek redress to this situation upon the lapse of the 14 working days in the event there is no forthcoming reasonable action from your end,” it added.
In the meantime, efforts to reach Senator Moses Wetangula for his comment on this dogs issue ended in vain as he did not pick calls from this source by the time of publishing this article. He also did not respond to text messages.
