National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has been politicking on several occasions but not beyond Mt.Kenya region.
Muturi, who is the flagbearer of the Democratic Party , is among those who are eyeing the country’s top seat.
He has been in Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a and other counties in the region just to prepare the ground for his aspirations in politics.
During the chat with JB Muturi session on Twitter on Wednesday however, a Kenyan asked him to stop concentrating on the mountain region since he requires votes from all parts of the country to be able to win the presidential contest.
“And secondly wacha kuzungukia Mt. Kenya, enda western, Nyanza, Coast ndo ujue Kenya inakuelekeza wapi,” Anthoney Opilo said.
Muturi responded to him saying that the official campaign period is yet to begin but he will soon be outlining his campaign trail.
“They say charity begins at home but that does NOT mean that I will not be touring all the 47 Counties. The campaign period has not officially begun. I will publish my full itinerary soon,” Muturi responded.
He also said that he has since adopted his Kenya Mbele slogan after the Kenya Kwanza one was stolen by his political opponents.
“Well I am glad to have helped them. We have since moved on and adapted ‘Kenya Mbele’, which truly is my philosophy the Country has to come first above all else,” said Muturi.
Speaking on how he will deal with corruption, Muturi said that it has to begin with citizens and institutions that are responsible for handling graft.
“Dealing with graft has to start from the citizens, faith-based organizations, GoK offices, and the institutions charged with handling graft. They need funding to expedite their duties, swiftly, efficiently without fear or favor.
“We must rethink the ‘security of tenure’ clause for officers suspected of being corrupt. This is the clause that allows all the dubious people to hide, If someone in the judiciary is accused of graft, how can you argue that they have security of tenure?” he said.
