President William Ruto will leave Kenya for Germany on Sunday evening.
His trip to the European nation is meant to secure jobs that Germany’s president promised a while back.
The head of state said that he is looking forward to ensure that at least 5,000 will be leaving the country on a weekly basis to work in foreign countries.
“This night, I will be heading to Germany because three months ago, when the Germany president was in the country, he promised us 200,000 jobs, I must go and organize jobs the jobs,” he said during a church service in Bomet County on Sunday.
“Every week, we want to send between 3000-5000 Kenyans across the world to work and be able to bring us money, to stand for themselves and also change the whole of Kenya,” he added.
He further maintained that his foreign trips are not meant for vacations but to work on developments.
“When I go for foreign trips, I don ‘t go for the purpose of tourism but for the benefit of Kenyans, as that is why I was elected,” Ruto said.
The president has made over 40 foreign trips since he was sworn into office.
He also talked about the Saudi Arabian trip that he made in October.
“A week ago, I was in Saudi. We made an agreement with them, they need 350,000 to work in their country. We will be signing a bilateral labour agreement in the near futurw. I will go back there after three weeks,” Ruto said.
His frequent foreign trips attracted lots of criticisms because of the huge budget that is set for them.
The president however addressed critics saying, “There are people making noise and complaining about my travelling. That is what my job as a president entails. I am the Chief agent. I am the ambassador of Kenya in matters of development. I travel for just two days to go search for employment for Kenyans you are making noise.”
