Lewis Nguyai’s nomination was cancelled, and Michael Kamau appointed to replace him at NHIF by President Ruto.
Michael Kamau, the former CS Transport, has been nominated by President William Ruto to lead the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).
The Head of State also nominated a number of leaders to head boards across his Government in a Gazette notice dated Friday, December 23. Job Chirchir was chosen as the Chairperson of the Kenya Forest Service (KFS).
A three-year term beginning on Friday, December 23, 2022, was also given to retired lieutenant general Walter Raria Koipaton to lead the Kenya Wildlife Service Board.
The prior appointment of General Karangi to the position of Chairperson of the National Social Security Fund Board of Trustees was likewise canceled by the Head of State. For a three-year tenure, Anthony Muriuki Munyiri will be in charge of the docket.
The former Chief of Kenya Defence Forces Gen. (RTD) Julius Karangi is now the Chairperson of the National Council for Population and Development Board.
“In Exercise of the powers conferred by section 4 (1) (a) of the National Health Insurance Fund Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces of the Republic of Kenya, appoint Michael Kamau to be the Chairperson of the National Health Insurance Fund, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 23rd December, 2022. The appointment of Lewis Nguyai is revoked,” the notice reads.
