William Ruto has spent millions contributing to churches in Mt Kenya region but now Kikuyus are asking why the DP has not rebuilt Kiambaa church in his Uasin Gishu backyard.
Painful memories of Kenya Assemblies of God Pentecostal Church in Kiambaa, Uasin Gishu were revisited when Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua was interviewed at Gikuyu vernacular TV station Inooro TV on Monday morning October 25th.
The Kiambaa church was burnt on January 1st 2008 at the height of 2007/2008 post election violence with dozens trapped inside.
Viewers who sent questions during Gachagua’s interview on Inooro TV put the MP to task to explain why Ruto has contributed millions to churches in Mt Kenya yet he hasn’t rebuilt the Kiambaa church in his Uasin Gishu backyard.
The question was raised by Nickson Mburu who inquired why Ruto and his troops have not rebuilt the church to date.
Gachagua said that he’s not the one who burnt the Kiambaa church and therefore the question was misplaced. He added that he wouldn’t contribute for the construction of the church.

Pastor Njoroge from Kiambu asked Gachagua why he doesn’t fight for Kikuyus whose houses were burnt in the Rift Valley during the Post Election Violence. Njoroge said that it was dishonest for the Mathira MP to keep on talking about the Kenyans whose houses were demolished in Kariobangi and Njiru.
Gachagua responded by saying that the question should be directed to President Uhuru Kenyatta to answer why some people are still unsettled when he has been in power for 9 years.
The Mathira MP further added that he was not an elected leader when the clashes happened in Rift Valley and therefore he can’t speak on the issue.
Gachagua noted that he speaks about Kariobangi because those locals have suffered when he is a lawmaker and it’s his constitutional right to fight for them.
