Azimio OKA leaders who won the Tuesday general elections are meeting at KICC for the “Elected Leaders Inaugural Conference”.
Preparations for the event have been going on since Tuesday and a VVIP lounge was set up. A red-carpet was also laid at the entrance, even though details about the main agenda of the event remained scanty.
Several leaders of Azimio have already streamed at the convention center and it had earlier been communicated that president Uhuru Kenyatta would grace the event. Presidential candidate Raila Odinga is also expected to attend. Martha Karua and Kalonzo Musyoka are already in attendance and the conference is underway.
According to one of those who won in the general elections, the event at KICC is set to make arrangements of how things will flow since they are confident Raila will be announced as the fifth President.
“We have come in solidarity, we are expecting that the fifth president will be announced I think tomorrow, so we have come to put our house in order as he is being announced so that we proceed to welcome him as the fifth president of this Republic,” the leader said.
According to him, they were sent a message about the event and already have a WhatsApp group of Azimio members who have been elected. He added that a total of 190 members won the elective seats. The Newly elected Lugari MP reiterated his remarks
“We have a formal meeting as members of the Azimio family we are starting to look into the future. We also want to look into the preparations for the presidential results declaration because we know we have won,” he said.
On the other hand Sirisia MP John Waluke and newly elected Siaya senator Oburu Odinga said that he is not aware of what the meeting entails but they were just informed to present themselves at KICC today.
The elected leaders are required to dress in blue which is Azimio identification color.
