Raila Junior, son to ODM Party leader, Raila Odinga had to apologize to his father and the entire ODM fraternity over his controversial remarks rebuking the party over its agenda.
On Tuesday, Raila Junior took Twitter by storm when he accused ODM of shifting away from its agenda.
“We as ODM need to find our way back to basics, we’re not just about private jets & slay queens whilst abusing rival politicians,” Raila Junior said.
“…we have a development agenda clearly outlined in our manifesto, let’s focus on service delivery, democratic space, protecting private citizen’s rights,” he added.
But today (Wednesday) Junior made a u-turn on his statement saying he message was misunderstood.
“Clarification as an ordinary ODM member my views are my own and not that of the party. I’m grateful to ODM for allowing democratic space in which different views and opinions are expressed,” he said.
“My views were not targeting any leaders and I apologize for any misunderstanding caused.”
This comes after the ODM party National Chair John Mbadi said Junior was not a party member and his statement should not be taken seriously.
“I have to be clear that Raila Junior is not an ODM member nor does he hold any position in the party. He is merely Raila’s son. I don’t know why his comments would be used t spell the position of ODM,” Mbadi said at an interview with Citizen Tv.
But Junior’s apology would not repair the damage his statement had done. Some social media users even asked him to keep off political matters.

Replying to Junior’s apology one Ombati Edwin told said: “You and your uncle Oburu should be hiding somewhere till all strategies have been put in place and rolling… you can’t hold your mouths.”
While Patroba had this to say: “You said the truth … honestly ODM brand is declining. You cannot compare ODM 2007 and ODM 2020…mtu Kama Sifuna runs ODM like his pit latrine.”
And Kinoti Joseph said: “Apology accepted, though the message remains. Leadership is not about private jets and slay queens. Sijui kama tunaelewana.”
