The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga seems to have learnt a big lesson just days after his daughter Winnie Odinga was accused by various people of misbehaving in the United Kingdom.
Winnie Odinga always accompanies Raila to almost all the important political meetings and you may be forgiven to mistake her for Baba’s Personal Assistant (P.A).
However, for the first time Raila abandoned the daughter at home on Wednesday when he attended an important function at the Bomas of Kenya.
The ODM leader had attended the UPYA National Delegates Conference (NDC) where they endorsed the opposition leader as their sole presidential candidate.
Strangely, many people were surprised by the absence of Winnie Odinga at the meeting, drawing speculations whether baba decided to discipline her by telling her to remain at home with the mother.
According to an ODM insider who spoke to Sonko News on condition of anonymity, Raila is keen on a good national image and he is not ready to ruin the same through his family members who might have a slip of the tongues at such functions.
The source added that from today henceforth, Winnie Odinga will only be blogging for baba at home or go to campaign alone as opposed to accompanying him since her daily presence around Jakom only makes people fear mingling with the ODM leader freely.
“I was very sure that Raila was going to leave Winnie Odinga after the recent rumor that she was involved in a war of words with a leader in the United Kingdom. I think Baba decided to take instant action to drop her and I think that was a good move.”
“By accompanying Raila to Bomas today, Winnie Odinga was going to grab all attention from the father because she would have attracted critics, making people lose what the Azimo candidate was going to tell them. Kudos Jakom.” Added another one.
Another Kenyan said: “Today I was keen on political functions by Raila and whether he was going to carry her favorite daughter Winnie along. It is high time Raila separates politics from family because some of these children will only spoil his chances. Some of those children are still not emotionally stable to interact with everyone. Now see the rumors going around that she lectured Manoah Episiu like a small child after missing their flight.”
Winnie Odinga was recently castigated by some Kenyans who accused her of exchanging words with Manoah Episiu after Raila Odinga missed his flight back to Kenya.
According to a tweet that was published by Kimmie 2 times on March 20, Winnie verbally attacked the High Commissioner after missing their flight at Heathrow Airport since the driver could not locate the VIP gate at the airport.
“Apparently Winnie O. verbally abused the Kenyan High Commissioner to the U.K. after they missed their flight back to Kenya. Driver couldn’t locate the VIP gate but somehow that was the ambassador’s fault,” Kimmie, believed to be Land CS Farida Karoney’s son, wrote.
