Raila Chides Ruto For Rejecting Azimio’s Solutions For Lowering Cost Of Living

Date:

ODM leader Raila Odinga has bashed the Kenya Kwanza government for continually blaming former President Uhuru Kenyatta over the high cost of living.

Speaking in Machakos county on Thursday, he said that the government has been complaining about lack of funds for a whole year instead of working for its citizens.

Raila also said that President William Ruto has ignored solutions that were presented by Azimio during their negotiations in a bid to salvage Kenyans.

“Kalonzo asked me what we should because they have refused this. I told Kalonzo Musyoka to let them be because they are sick and don’t want medication. Let them just die. They started by importing, maize, sugar, rice, and even edible oil which are passing through the port without taxation but the cost of living has not come down. Sh 16 billion has been lost through such imports. Now they want to do the same with fuel importation,” he said.

“They had no plans of building government and they don’t know how to run it, and we shall not show them how to do it,” he further said.

The opposition leader went on to accuse those in power of swindling public resources and blaming the previous regime.

“They stole, but it has refused to go down, it’s stuck in their throats. They have tried but it can’t go down and they can’t vomit it, now they are blaming the past regime.

“If You found an empty pot, what has hindered you from preparing Ugali afresh?” Raila said.

At the same time, he also faulted the government’s move of  putting state corporations on sale.

“They want to sell Kenya Pipeline Corporation, National Oil Corporation, and KICC. Globally no country has put its oil corporations under private ownership because the cost of fuel will rise depending on who buys it,” he said.

The ODM leader said that the executive had put the parliament under siege, hence it was no longer performing it’s oversight duties.

He urged Kenyans to prevent the government from proceeding with the plans.
