President Moi’s Grandson Refuses To Pay Ksh.1 Million Child Upkeep

Date:

Former President Daniel Arap Moi’s grandson has refused to pay Ksh1 million monthly child support his estranged wife demands.

Collins Kibet Toroitich Moi refused to pay the huge amount for his two children’s but agreed to pay for their upkeep at a lesser amount.

Collins and his estranged wife, Gladys Jeruto Tagi, reportedly separated over eight years ago, following what they described as “irreconcilable differences.”

Years after their separation, Tagi filed a suit at a Nakuru Court to compel Kibet to pay Ksh 1 million monthly for their two children.

Through her lawyer, David Mong’eri, Tagi claimed that the money would cater to her children’s basic needs and other things.

Responding to Tagi’s demands, Kibet, through his lawyer, requested the court give him more time to propose the children’s support.

“My client has agreed to support the children, but he is not in a position to pay the amount demanded by the applicant. He, therefore, seeks permission from the court to make formal proposals on how he will support the children,” Kibet’s lawyer told Principal magistrate Benjamin Limo.

Kibet further promised to consent with Tagi on how he will provide support for their children. The court granted Kibet the request, and he is expected to make a formal application with his proposals before the case is next mentioned on September 8.

The court case emerged after Kibet had previously denied the paternity of the children. He, however, agreed to provide for them after a DNA test confirmed that the two minors were his.

Tagi had accused Kibet of neglecting their children and left her to take care of them alone.

“I am currently unable to provide for the children alone as the needs are so many and would need to be assisted,” she said.
