Photos: President Ruto Meets Ousted ODM MPs At State House

Date:

President Ruto welcomed a group of ousted ODM (Orange Democratic Movement) Members of Parliament to State House, Nairobi. The meeting, which took place on a sunny afternoon, seemingly marked an unexpected moment of political reconciliation and cooperation after their expulsion.

The group of kicked out MPs included notable figures such as Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalango, Elisha Odhiambo, Tom Ojienda, Gideon Ochanda, Mark Nyamita, Caroli Omondi, and Paul Abuor. Each of these individuals faced permanent expulsion from the Orange Democratic Movement in recent political axe action.

Supporters of ODM and Azimio see gathering at State House as a desperate move although Kenya Kwanza supporters view it as a significant step toward building bridges and fostering unity towards building the country.

President Ruto, who has been actively engaged in coalition-building efforts, extended an olive branch to these former ODM lawmakers, signaling a willingness to collaborate and work with them.

The meeting, which lasted for several hours, was described as cordial and productive. President Ruto emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation among political leaders, highlighting the need to put the interests of the Kenyan people first.

He stressed that Kenya needed a united front to address the numerous challenges facing the nation, including economic recovery, security, and healthcare.

The MPs expressed their gratitude to President Ruto for the warm reception and the opportunity to engage in open and constructive talks.

Even with straight forward ideological differences, the greater good of the nation should take precedence over political affiliations.

During the discussions, various topics were addressed, including strategies for grassroots development, enhancing access to education and healthcare, and fostering job creation.

The group also explored the possibility of working together on legislative initiatives that could benefit all Kenyans.

The meeting at State House has sparked speculation about potential political realignments by netizens across the country.
