Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha on Monday asked parents with learners in other classes to start preparing them for reopening in one or two-weeks time.
The announcement comes as the gradually reopening of schools across the country begins today, allowing grade 4, grade 8, and From four learners to resume schools for their second term.
While inspecting school reopening at Nairobi Primary and Olympic Primary in Nairobi, Magoha asked parents to ready the remaining children for learning.
“The Ministry will observe the situation in one or two weeks, then we shall recall the other children,” said Prof Magoha.
The CS also advised parents no to worry about their children and should stop negative thinking.
“Unless a child has a pre-existing condition, unnecessary school visits should be stopped,” the CSÂ said.
He asked parents whose children have pre-existing medical conditions to inform the schools.
Learning institutions could also soon be required to have a bio-data of all learners should there be a spike in Covid-19 cases.
Speaking at Olympic Primary School in Kibera, Nairobi the CS said: “As we open, schools will be required to compile bio-data of all children and should there be an emergency. Every teacher shall be a guardian.”
To respond to the virus, the CS asked schools to form a Covid-19 committee as well as avoid co-curricular activities and assemblies.

The CS also asked pregnant girls to resume learning.
On matters of school fees, CS asked boarding school principals to ensure no child is sent home due to a lack of school fees whether they are in private or public schools.
He asked private schools offering online to avoid discrimination learners who lack schools fess.
“All children will resume syllabus from where they left in March when schools closed,” he said.
