Oscar Sudi Offers To Help Kangemi Wheelbarrow Thief Nelson Ondieki

Date:

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has offered to help wheelbarrow thief Nelson Omangwa Ondieki who has been trending on social media.

Ondieki became online sensation after it was reported that he stole a wheelbarrow belonging to a businessman who used it to roast maize in Kangemi area of Nairobi.

The man was first charged with stealing the wheelbarrow from Nelson Mutua on October 8th before senior principal magistrate Esther Bhoke of Kibera law courts.

Ondieki was presented in court on Tuesday November 9th to answer to theft charge and he pleaded guilty to the offense.

He told the court that he borrowed the wheelbarrow to use after he got a job to carry some pieces of firewood in his neighborhood in the Waruku area.

The defendant revealed that the wheelbarrow was impounded by Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) officers who demanded Ksh20,000 to release it.

“I met some kanjo (NMS) workers who asked me where I was taking the things I was carrying before they took away the wheelbarrow. I went to him (Mutua) and told him what had happened but he said he doesn’t want to see me without his wheelbarrow,” Ondieki said.

“I have tried talking to him since Thursday but he insists he doesn’t want to see me, he wants his trolley. But I admit the charges,” he added.

The court heard that Ondieki disappeared never to be seen after borrowing Mutua’s wheelbarrow until November 4th when Mutua spotted and arrested him with the help of members of the public.

Ondieki was released on a bond of Ksh200,000 and an alternative cash bail of Ksh7,500. The case will be mentioned on November 22nd.

Oscar Sudi offered to help Ondieki after he trended on social media because of his case – wheelbarrow theft.

Wheelbarrow is the symbol of William Ruto’s UDA party and has been the subject of political discourse in Kenya, this explains why Ondieki has been trending.

Ruto ally Sudi is looking for Ondieki to help him. The Kapseret MP launched an appeal on Facebook to trace the wheelbarrow thief.

“Someone help me find this guy. I want to help him,” wrote Oscar Sudi on Facebook.
