Siaya senator James Aggrey Orengo has said that he is well placed to be the governor of Siaya county in 2022 because he was amongst the Kenyan leaders who defied the government of the day to attend the famous swearing in ceremony.
Orengo who was speaking at a burial at Ugenya constituency in Siaya county dismissed other gubernatorial hopefuls on the basis that they were never there when Raila needed help on that day.
“That is why I am asking myself, the day Raila was being sworn in at Uhuru park with the threats of him being arrested, where were all these gubernatorial aspirants ? Did you see them there? they cannot claim anything now yet they have never contributed to such serious events like swearing in ceremony.
His sentiments did not however augur well with some residents who wondered why the senator’s only important track record that he was selling to the Siaya residents was attending Raila’s swearing in ceremony.
They wondered why he could not outline the things he was going to do for the Siaya locals once he becomes the governor as opposed to merely attending the much hyped illegal swearing in ceremony.
“Orengo should STOP MISUSING Raila’s name. If you want to be Siaya Governor, tell us what you will do for us. If you want to be appointed in Raila’s government then stop wasting our time and go praise him in other parts of the country but nonsense gi mag campaign gi nying Raila Siaya ka to da! We WANT CONTENT.” Said one resident.
“Is it not just amazing that Orengo who cannot keep the incumbent governor Cornel Rasanga in check now wants to take over the leadership of the country? Will he really accept to be kept on check given that he has questioned any misuse of public resources in the county of Siaya? This must be the biggest joke of the century!” Added another resident from Siaya.
Another one continued: ” While other aspirants are urging Siaya residents to elect them on the basis of their manifesto for them, Orengo is only narrating to them how he went to Uhuru park before anybody else could arrive there. Kwani going to Uhuru park will build us roads? Will it build us markets? Or will it open for us dairy companies like in the case of Charity Ngilu? This joke makes me sick!”
