The vibrant Siaya governor James Orengo has broken his silence following the ruling by the supreme court of Kenya.
James Orengo while speaking at the Milimani Law court said that he accepted the rulings of the court although he did not agree with it.
According to the Siaya senator, the ruling on a number of issues such as the 50+1 was more ideological as opposed to being based on facts. He termed the formular used by the seven judges to calculate this constitutional threshold as inappropriate.
Orengo added that the presentation of forms 34A by Julie Soweto ought not to be described as hot air. He termed the Supreme court’s words as very harsh given that the evidence by Julie Soweto came from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission portal.
The senior counsel further added that Raila Odinga will be making his statement shortly following the ruling by the Supreme court.
On his side, lawyer Philip Murgor argued that it was not practical for the petitioners to lose on all the issues they raised in the court. Besides, the petitioners added that the unanimous decision of seven judges ruling dismissing the case was very strange in the history of the courts all over the world.
Consequently, the Siaya governor revealed that they will wait for the full ruling by the supreme court in the next 21 days so that they can look into it and determined the errors that the seven judge bench made.
In the meantime, it is not clear whether Raila Odinga will accept the Supreme court judgment or whether he won’t.
