ODM Lays Terms For Ruto’s Visit To Kisumu

ODM members led Prof Ayiecho Olweny has laid some ground rules for Deputy President William Ruto ahead of his visit to Kisumu.

Prof Ayiecho who is also Kisumu County Chairman said the DP is welcomed to visit the region but warned him against insulting their party leader Raila Odinga.

The veteran Nyanza politician noted that the DP on most occasions has always insulted Raila Odinga and this should not be witnessed within the region.

Speaking in Kisumu on Friday accompanied bother party officials, the former Muhoroni Member of Parliament said they are not scared by Ruto’s visit in the region.

He advised those willing to attend Ruto’s event while in Kisumu should do so but maintain peace and listen to him.

“If he brings goodies, take them but that does not mean that everyone who attends that function is his supporter,” Ayiecho said.

“This is Raila’s stronghold and will remain to be so no matter how many visits the DP makes to the region”.

He also noted that the Deputy President had the democratic right to move anywhere in the country including Kisumu and he is free to associate with anybody.

“If he visits Kisumu, he knows his supporters and his supporters know him. They are free to associate,” he added.
