NTV Presenter Zeynab Wandati Reveals How Boni Khalwale Saved Her Life At Birth

Date:

NTV Presenter and editor Zeynab Wandati has revealed that former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale helped save her life at birth.

Speaking on Wednesday, November 4, she stated that she had been born prematurely at seven months and Khalwale helped her mother give birth by playing the role of a midwife.

Immediately after birth, she was transferred to an incubator to keep her warm and help her develop faster.

Medics stated that keeping premature infants warm with an incubator helps them grow faster and reach safe levels of development more efficiently.

“My mother was his client at what used to be the Kakamega District Hospital. The former senator is a trained gynaecologist,” the journalist told Kenyans.co.ke.

She added, “My mother still talks about him to date. She’s grateful to him.”

Zeynab was born into a mixed religion family in which some members were Catholics and others were Muslims.

She explained that it exposed her to both cultures and was able to make an informed choice to become a Muslim.

Unfortunately, her parents separated while she was still young and her father raised Zeynab and her brother for the greater part of their lives.

Growing up, she wanted to be a doctor but a meeting with Citizen TV’s Jamila Mohammed gave her inspiration to pursue journalism.

After graduating, the presenter interned at Royal Media Services, then joined the Nation Media Group through a  journalism training programme called the Media Lab.

Since 2012, she has been at NTV where she started as a business reporter before becoming the business editor. Currently, she is the science and technology editor.
