NTSA Declines To Renew Bolt’s Licence Days Before The Old One Expires

Date:

Popular Taxi line Bolt has found itself in a tight spot after the National Transport and Safety Authority(NTSA) declined a request to renew the company’s operation licence.

The transport regulator turned down the licence renewal request over claims of violations.

With only a few days left before the current licence expires, Bolt wrote to NTSA requesting for the renewal having been served on October 28, 2022.

In a letter, NTSA Deputy Director Cosmas Ngeso informed Bolt’s country manager Linda Ndung’u, that they will only receive a new licence once the violations have been addressed.

“Please note that the Authority is not able to proceed with renewal of your operator licence until when the issues raised by drivers and their representatives are satisfactorily addressed and rectified. In light of these, we urgently request you to provide us with a concrete plan of action outlining steps your company intends to take to rectify this situation,” Ngeso said.

While addressing the stand off, Ndung’u said that the company is working with NTSA to ensure that the licence renewal pushes through.

“Bolt currently has a licence in the market, and continues to work with the regulator in the stipulated licence renewal process going forward,” she said.
