Nigerian Military Probes Lagos #EndSARS Shootings

The Nigerian military is conducting an internal investigation into the shooting of unarmed protesters in Lagos by military officers.

The shooting during the protests against police brutality in the country caused an international outcry after the incident was broadcasted live on social networks.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, the Minister of Defense announced that the investigations were taking place.

He however declined to give details of the investigations but said the outcome would be made public as soon as possible.

The Attorney General, who was also at the conference, not that they have never witnessed an operational order sanctioning the shooting.

He suggested that the shooting could have been done by criminals who dressed in camouflage, or the social media footage might have been doctored.

The claims even as Instagram informed BBC that its live videos cannot be fake or be interfered with.

On 20 October several unarmed protesters were shot in the wealthy Lagos suburb of Lekki.

Several witnesses say the shooting was done by the military soldiers.

At first, the army denied being at the scene of protests but later admitted that they were sent by the state government but still deny shooting anyone.
