LSK president Nelson Havi has officially joined UDA, a political party affiliated to Deputy President William Ruto.
Havi was received by DP Ruto at his Karen residence on Monday, November 22.
“Welcome to UDA @NelsonHavi. Form ni bottom-up,” read a tweet by UDA.
Havi intends to vie for the Westlands parliamentary seat in the General Elections slated for August 9, 2022.
Members who were present to welcome him included; Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago, former National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale, and MPs Kimani Ichung’wah and Rigathi Gachagua.
In May this year, he said that he had accepted calls by residents of Westlands to represent them in parliament.
“I have accepted the request of the people of Westlands Constituency to serve them and the nation in that capacity – MP effective August 2022 or earlier in the event parliament is dissolved,” the LSK president said.
Immediately after that, Havi joined ANC before shifting to UDA. He intends to succeed ODM’s Tim Wanyonyi who is eyeing Nairobi’s top seat.
Earlier on, Havi said that he will ensure that Westlands is developed.
“In Westlands, there is unemployment, there are no roads, hospitals, schools, especially in the poor neighborhoods. I saw the situation in Kibagare recently and wept a lot,” he said in an interview with a local radio station.
