Nation Media Group (NMG) on Wednesday, November 29 debunked reports that Nairobi Expressway had been closed after developing cracks.
Nation Media issued a fake news alert after a poster was generated indicating that the media house had pushed out a breaking news poster advising motorists to use alternative routes.
The fake poster was shared on various social media platforms creating concern among road users, especially in the city.
However, Nation was quick to respond stopping the fake news from spreading further.
“Please be advised that this card doing rounds on social media is fake,” Nation wrote.
The fake poster had advised motorists to seek alternative routes since the elevated highway running from Mlolongo to James Gichuru Road in Westlands had been closed.
“The Nairobi Expressway asks motorists to use the alternative means after cracks start to appear on the expressway,” the misleading post read.
The post was shared alongside various hashtags which had been generated to blame the former administration over the state of roads in the country.
It is not clear who sponsored the hashtags with over 2,000 posts on X castigating Uhuru.
