The Nakuru Doctor James Gakara who murdered his two kids has been found dead at the Nakuru Level 5 Hospital where he was receiving treatment.
Dr. James Muriithi Gakara who is specialized in treating pregnant women killed his own two children and attempted to take own life at his affluent Milimani apartment in Nakuru.
Gakara, who is an obstetrician at Optimum Current Hospital in Nakuru, injected his two children with a killer substance that took their lives on the spot.
The lifeless bodies of the children aged 3 and 5 were found by detectives lying on their bed, with foam oozing from their mouths.
On the other side, Doctor James Gakara was found lying on his bed unconscious near the lifeless bodies, prompting him to be rushed to Nakuru level five hospital where he was admitted.
Nakuru County Police Commander Beatrice Kiraguri confirmed the unfortunate incident saying police were alerted by neighbors who heard commotion at Gakara’s house.
“We received a tip-off from the public that there was a commotion in a nearby house along Kilimani area. We immediately dashed to the scene and found the lifeless bodies of the two children in the house. Their father was still breathing,” Police boss Kiraguri said.
In the meantime, the family of Nakuru doctor James Gakara suspected of killing his two kids expressed doubt that he took the lives of his children aged five and three and then attempted suicide.
Gakara’s elder sister Mary Nyagathii who addressed the press at Nakuru Level Five Hospital said the accounts given by those who visited the scene had many gaps in it.
Police said Gakara was alone with the kids when he murdered them but his sister insists there were other people in the house.
Nyaguthii said that on the fateful day, there were other persons who were in the home and they should also be questioned.
“We have some persons of interest who are yet to give an account of what happened. Dr. Gakara was rarely alone with his children as it has been alleged. We hope that those yet to record statements will shed light on the matter,” said Nyaguthii
