Gertrude Chepkoech a first year student at Laikipia University was brutally killed by her roommate’s boyfriend who sneaked into their hostel on a murder mission.
Chepkoech suffered multiple stab wounds after she was attacked at Laikipia University main campus by her roommate’s boyfriend only identified as Ezra.
Ezra who is a bodaboda operator traveled from Nakuru to Nyahururu on Wednesday September 29th on a mission to kill his girlfriend.
The bodaboda operator sneaked into his girlfriend’s hostel but he didn’t find her as she was attending class.
Ezra instead found his girlfriend’s roommate Gertrude Chepkoech whom he stabbed several times killing her on the spot.
The man then turned the knife on himself in a bid to commit suicide, he stabbed himself in the stomach exposing his intestines, and also added another knife to his chest.
Other students broke into the room after hearing loud yells only to find Chepkoech lying dead in a pool of blood and Ezra gasping for air.
The irate students pounced on Ezra with all manner of crude weapons at their disposal, he was however saved by police and rushed to the hospital before he could be lynched to death.
Gertrude Chepkoech’s lifeless body was taken to Nyahururu county referral hospital mortuary as police started investigations into the incident.
Witnesses said that Ezra was at the hostel a week earlier where he was thrown out by the management after having a quarrel with his girlfriend.
The girlfriend accused him of forcing himself into the facility and the hostel management warned him never to go back there again.
The late Gertrude was only a first-year student at Laikipia University taking a course in English literature.
