Sylvia Miller Bichanga, an American woman who went viral for hawking snacks in Kisumu city is set to close her shop.
In a video shared on social media, Sylvia announced the changes and said she would be cooking at home.
“I just want to say that there are some changes about to come. I plan on closing Mzungu Pretzels and I will be cooking from my house,” she said.
Sylvia explained that she has decided to take the step following the exit of her business partner whom they started the business with.
Her husband Kevin came in to help but he could not handle it because it was not his passion.
“My husband did a great job but said he did not enjoy it as it was not his thing. He got the opportunity to be a taxi driver,” she said.
She says that she can not manage to run the shop on her own and there being no other option, she decided that she would work from the comfort of her home.
“I wondered what I would do with my business and decided to move everything to my house,” she said.
The snacks vendor however said that she will continue to hawk in the city.
“I will put my phone number and if you want to order from somewhere in town you can do that. Thank you for all your love and support, ” she said.
Sylvia came to Kenya alongside her family members as missionaries in 2016. It was when she met Kevin Bichanga and got married. She remained behind as her family left after their mission was concluded.
“I came to Kenya 4 years ago with my mom and dad and brothers as missionaries, but they went home after they were done with the mission and that is when I got married to my husband who is a Kenyan man,” she told Citizen TV last month.
