Mutunga Issues Demands to Kindiki After Reports of Police Dying in Haiti Mission

Date:

Former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga has demanded answers from Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki over reports that a police officer who was in the advance team for Haiti’s mission died.

The former Chief Justice asked the Interior Cabinet Secretary to issue a comprehensive report explaining the circumstances under which the said officer died.

“We are hearing that some of our police officers in the advance team in Haiti have been killed. I am asking the IGP and CS Internal Security to answer my question. If true the families involved should not keep quiet about the tragedy,” Mutunga wrote on his social media page.

This came after the family of the late Walter Nyamata, a senior Kenyan Inspector of Police who passed away in Washington DC in the US in February, demanded answers.

According to the father, the authority has failed to provide the autopsy report, findings of the autopsy or the death certificate.

“We asked for the provisional report to show the post-mortem finding, and they refused to give us. Even the death certificate provided by the US, they are yet to submit, it,” the deceased father stated.

“When the body first arrived in Kenya, they barred us from viewing it. Later, they called us to the Lee Funeral Home, where we confirmed it was our son.”
