The popular mtumba guy from Kisumu county has finally opened up that he almost committed suicide following his sudden fame.
According to the mtumba guy, the fame after meeting radio presenter Jalang’o came with betrayal as people expected him to come to their rescue despite having nothing.
He spoke during an interview with Lyn Ngugi as reported by Mpasho News:
“The other day I almost took my life. Do you know how tough it is to be famous and broke? People at home know you are a millionaire and take it as if you do not want to help them.
My sister also felt like I did not want to help her out. It reached a point where my baby mama assumed I was intentionally refusing to help. They feel I have a lot of money, it pained me a lot. I would talk to Irvine and Mercy Maluli (Divine collection founder) and they would advise me.
That is why I say don’t listen to everything on social media.” He said.
The mtumba guy became famous with his famous “Ng’ara mpaka waseme una sponsor” phrases which saw him meet Jalang’o and land huge deals.
However, Steve Mayau Sande aka Mtumba guy later revealed that most of the well-wishers made empty promises to him. He had gone live on Instagram to share his frustrations with the netizens.
As a result, he even threatened to go back to Kisumu and continue with his hustle since those well-wishers did not honor the promises.
However, Jalas who hosted the mtumba guy denied those allegations while maintaining that most of those pledges were fulfilled which saw the upcoming businessman get almost 200,000 Kenya shillings.
“Odi bets got him the 50k, Notify logistics got him 50k and had his 2 bales on their shelves, Best Mutumba got him 2 bales worth 50k, Devine collection got him a house and 50k for his settling in Nairobi,” Jalang’o said.
The radio presenter further disclosed that perhaps the mtumba guy is just a frustrated man because the fame was coming to an end more than he thought.
“I think what is frustrating him now is how his phone that was ringing all the time now is silent. I just want to kindly ask anyone who promised him anything and has not delivered please do.
“One thing I know is that people also quickly move on from one trend to another but all will be fine. I’ll call him and help him where I can. I know his people back in the village now know that he is a millionaire so I can imagine the pressure. Don’t worry mtumba man, all will be well,” Jalas said.
