Former Lugari member of parliament Cyrus Jirongo on Thursday told off the Mt. Kenya Foundation tycoons on their face with regards to the type of presidential candidate who should be settled on.
According to Jirongo who attended the Mt. Kenya Forum in Nairobi, he insisted that they should treat all the candidates as equal partners without having preference to any of them.
“When the Mt. Kenya looks like they have a preferred leader,you create a lot of dissent in the hearts of my brothers here, because Kalonzo has spoken, he has been key when you needed him.
“You people must never have a preferred candidate, let all of us work as a team, and at the right time, Kenyans will see who is this so qualified to take us through this very risky period.
“I want to urge all of you, and the problem is coming from the Mountain, don’t have preferred candidates! I have told you as a community, we have demonstrated many times that we can vote for any Kenyan. What do you expect us to feel as a community if you come fronting somebody else who maybe has just voted for you once? Not because he wanted to vote for you, but circumstances forced him to vote for you.?
“And us who voted for you, because we believed in you, we are treated like those ones are cheap. After all they are divided, they will just come and vote for us. At the same time, Cyrus Jirongo took a swipe ad deputy president William Ruto by referring to him as a danger to the country.
According to Jirongo, Ruto thrives in inciting the citizens against others, a factor which makes him unsuitable to take over the leadership of the country.
“They have now created another tribe in Kenya called the rich and the poor using exactly the same strategy. That i must identify an enemy, and i must label that enemy and use it for my own benefit.
“You all must resist the tribalism that has been used before to create chaos in this country, to the point that you have now identified another tribe called the haves and created another one, the haves not just to perpetuate the same crimes you have perpetuated all through.” Said Jirongo.
