MP Hospitalized After Fighting In Parliament On Wednesday

Date:

Sigowet-Soin MP Bernard Koros is admitted at Nairobi Hospital for treatment after sustaining injuries from a fight in parliament.

The MP engaged in a fist fight with minority leader John Mbadi on Wednesday 29, December and ended up with injuries on his right eye.

Photos shared on social media show him lying on the hospital bed with his eye completely bandaged.

Mbadi also suffered the same fate and was seen with a bandaged finger moments after being ejected from the parliament because of the misconduct.

Koros is however in a stable condition and has been allowed to receive visitors. So far those who have visited him include Belgut MP Nickson Koech.

Koech said that the fight almost cost Koros’ eyesight.

“A quick recovery to my brother@kipsengeret from an unprovoked attack by the dishonorable @TheODMpartychairman. Almost took away his eyesight,” Koech shared on Twitter.

Koros is said to have undergone a minor surgery and according to Koech, if the hospital would have delayed in treating him, that would have led to serious damage to his cornea and lower eyelid.

“The injury was deep. He is bespectacled so the punch broke his glasses and some of the shards entered his eyes while others cut his lower eyelid,”

The Suba south MP claimed that Koros bit his finger and that’s why he punched him on the face,

Mbadi was however suspended from the parliament for a period of 5 days.

The exchange between the MPs occurred during the voting of the political parties amendment Bill.

According to Mbadi, Koros was insisting on voting for an MP who was not present in the house, which was wrong. He had also been warned by the clerks against the move
