Moses Kuria has a love-hate relationship with William Ruto, the Gatundu South MP supports the DP but he refuses to heed his command.
Party loyalty has long been a serious bone of contention that has seen Kuria and Ruto clash several times in the recent past.
The Gatundu South MP is among party leaders who are inclined to Ruto but refuses to fold their parties and join United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Ruto has insisted that all parties backing him must dissolve and join UDA, a move that has put him at loggerheads with several party leaders across the country.
The DP has clashed with Moses Kuria who is the leader of Chama Cha Kazi and The Service Party (TSP) leader Mwangi Kiunjuri because they refuse to join UDA.
Kuria has made it clear that he is still standing firm and will not abandon his Chama Cha Kazi party, but he insists that he still support Ruto’s presidential bid.
“My love is with William Ruto but he needs to tell us if he wants small parties or not so that we plan ourselves,” said Kuria.
The Gatundu South MP further noted that he has been steering clear of Ruto’s political rallies because of party conflict.
“I have been uncomfortable accompanying Ruto to public rallies because when he says ‘Harambee’ I don’t know whether I will respond, ‘Chama Cha Kazi’,” said Kuria.
Ruto’s relationship with some political bigwigs from Mount Kenya region has been strained as a result of the UDA’s standoff over small parties.
The Ruto maintains he will not be forming coalitions with fringe parties, recently during a rally in Makueni Ruto angrily lashed at Mt Kenya Unity Forum (which brings together Moses Kuria, Mwangi Kiunjuri and Martha Karua’s parties) saying that their tribal outfits are irrelevant, further terming then as “village parties”.
