Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria campaigned for George Koimburi and he won Juja MP seat in May by-election, but now they are enemies fighting over a mere toilet.
The fallout between Kuria and Koimburi has now escalated beyond repair. The two are fighting over a toilet in Kiambu.
The Juja MP rubbed his Gatundu South counterpart the wrong way after he rebranded the Witeithie Market Lavatory that he had donated during the campaign period with People’s Empowerment Party (PEP) colors.
Kuria used to be PEP party leader until he was kicked out and he ultimately founded a new party Chama Cha Kazi.
PEP national chairman Watson Simiyu said the party fell out with Kuria after Juja and Gaturi by-election which the party won.
Kuria insisted on being allocated majority slots in the National Executive Committee, a request PEP officials rejected.
It has also emerged that Kuria fell out with PEP’s top brass over disagreements on how to re-brand the outfit and after he raised concerns of a planned takeover by a presidential candidate from Western.
Kuria wanted PEP to change its name to CCK and its slogan aligned to the Ruto’s Hustler Nation spirit.
Under Kuria, PEP captured national attention when it clinched the Juja Parliamentary and Gaturi ward by-election.
The victories that handed President Uhuru Kenyatta a humbling defeat in his Central Kenya backyard, elevated Kuria in the battle for Ruto’s 2022 running mate.
However, Kuria’s star quickly faded when he fell out with PEP and the party’s only legislator Juja MP George Koimburi.
Kuria and Koimburi are fighting over Witeithie Market Lavatory which the Gatundu MP donated during the campaign period with PEP colors.
The toilet was branded as having been donated by PEP through Koimburi until Friday morning December 10th when residents woke up only to find that it had been repainted and branded as having been donated by the CCK party and maintained by Kiambu County government.
The toilet is said to have been built by Koimburi and Kuria in an effort to woo Juja voters to vote for the PEP candidate.
“Koimburi should, with the help of UDA build a toilet there as well for use by their supporters,” Moses Kuria was quoted by K24 Digital.
The fallout between Kuria and Koimburi became clearer weeks ago after the Juja MP invited Deputy President William Ruto for a thanksgiving ceremony in the Constituency without Kuria’s involvement.
At the time that the ceremony was being held, Kuria was receiving treatment at a Nairobi Hospital for burns sustained on his leg.
Kuria has refused to join Ruto’s UDA even though he maintains that he supports the DP’s presidential quest.
